Mike Robinson and ITV Country Wise Kitchen on the Usk at Glanusk

Harry Legge-Bourke spent the day with Mike Robinson the renowned Michelin Starred Chef and the ITV Country Wise Kitchen Camera Team at Glanusk last Thursday.

What started at 3 degrees and water that felt –10, trying for a salmon in the bridge pool, it was definitely time to try for some trout by mid morning. During conversations that ranged from Predation, Abstraction, Climate Change and the beauty of the River Usk, Mike caught a fabulous pound and a half wild browny. All caught on film, thankfully, which we then cooked up on the river bank! This will be shown in approximately 3–4 weeks.

I look at this sort of PR as pro active and what we should be trying to achieve for the River and our Fisheries. We have now had the 2 Hairy Bikers, Horse and Country TV and now ITV. I noticed that the BBC CountryFile team were in the Brecon Beacons for this Sunday’s edition and mentioned the beauty of the River Usk, but that was it especially as they were heading down the Canal!
