Safeguarding the future of the river Usk.
Temperature of River Usk water
For those of you who fish on the river Usk , I thought you may wish to know that NRW's (Natural Resources Wales) thermometer at the Trostrey gauge gave an average water temperature for Saturday, 8 August, of over 20 degrees. It may be even higher downstream. I understand temperatures are forecast to stay high for at least a week.
If anyone does persuade a salmon to take, it's unlikely to survive.
I imagine that few, if any, people are likely to be even thinking of fishing for salmon at present - however, if you are we ask you to reconsider and leave the salmon in peace until the temperature drops. I will write again when I learn that the temperature has dropped sufficiently.
Thank you, in anticipation.
